Why do I practice bonsai.

With each ring, the tree and I grow different.
Not for correctness, nor to impress.
To keep questioning, to keep choosing.
Perhaps that is what it means to practice bonsai.
Which branch to extend, to bend, to release——after decades, certain truths begin to surface.
That bonsai is an art without completion, woven from an unbroken chain of choices and resolve——a journey, and a life.Listening to the voice of the tree, layering one decision upon the next. Knowing that today, you are shaping a hundred years hence.
Within the practice of bonsai lives a spirit that connects to the many Ways cultivated in Japan——wabi-sabi, ma, shu-ha-ri, and yugen.
